Number Hunt

Number Hunt is a guess the number game built around a board of bright number tiles. It plays in your browser on a phone or a PC, with no download.

A number is hidden on the board. Tap a tile to guess it. Each guess gives you clues: an arrow that says higher or lower, and a thermometer that runs from freezing blue to burning red as you get closer. Every tile the clues rule out fades away, so the board shrinks in front of you until only the answer is left. You have a set number of tries, and the tries you have left when you find it decide your one to three stars.

There are 12 levels, and the rules change from one level to the next. Higher or lower is the classic game. Hot and cold takes the arrow away, so only the thermometer helps. In a duel you take turns with a computer player on the same hidden number, and the first to find it wins. Two hidden numbers asks you to find both, with a clue that says how many are higher. The shifty number slips one step every few guesses, so faded tiles can light up again. Later boards grow from 1 to 20 up to the full 1 to 100 grid, with fewer tries to spare.

Tips: guess near the middle of the tiles that are still lit, so each answer cuts the board in half. Use the thermometer to rule out whole regions at once. In a duel, think about what your guess leaves for the other player.
